It’s been a challenging few years for New York’s health care nonprofits. The second-largest group on this year’s Crain’s list, the Visiting Nurse Service of New York, in late 2014 finalized a Medicaid settlement with New York state and federal officials, agreeing to pay $35 million to settle civil fraud claims related to its managed long-term care plans.
