Add me to the growing list of people who are unhappy with the customer service at Harefield Road. What's the deal? Don't tons of people need jobs right now? Can't they just hire nicer staff?
I went with a friend for brunch, which was great, foodwise. After we finished brunch, my friend and I ordered another round of drinks and continued chatting, until the hostess came to our table, slammed her hands down on it aggressively, and said "I'm going to need to turn over this table." A beat of silence passed, as we waited for her to follow it up with something slightly nicer, but she didn't say anything else, so we just scurried over to the bar quickly, trying to avoid any further scolding.
It was an understandable request, and we definitely didn't mind moving to the bar so that another twosome could take our table and have a meal. What irked both of us was the abrupt, non-polite way that the hostess chose to announce this to us. Both me and my friend have worked in restaurants for years (we've even hosted busy brunch shifts) and both agreed that there was a much nicer way to handle that situation - "Hi, sorry to do this, but we have someone who has been waiting for a table for a while. Would you mind moving to the bar?" would have been a simple, friendly way to do it. The way the hostess handled us made us both feel really unwelcome, and like we wanted to get out of there ASAP, which we did.
