what abount an automatic export of date/time-tagged items to google calendar...
1. Ability to interact with google calendar will be a BIG PLUS! 2. Should be able to get all items for the day. 3. Ability to set priorities will be another good feature. Color codes for these are effective.
yeah set reminder in any item and email would be nice
This would be great. Operation similar to rememberthemilk but using this simple interface would be the mutts nuts.
Almost any/all of the above requests are good. Really need a way to remind of task due date.
smart add(text , not gui!) .Alarms.Repeat. like Remember the milk;export in Ical format, readable by un web calendar like airset,-> I can see a weekly, monthly calendar .This will be a huge plus over Evernote.
ability to set a due date the same way we can set tags (<title> #<tag(s)> #due <date>)
Ability to change the creation date for a "thing". I am using Thinkery has a logbook of my activities. If I forget to add an activity, I should be able to enter it in the future and set the date for the thing.
An important feature. Everyone uses email...
Email is everywhere. :) Will not pay for this as I think this is an important feature to help you folks go viral. I would pay for increased storage and other innovative features.
Just sending links or text to a private adress, I would like this a lot. I would also use this to send things from stumbleupon to thinkery.
This is necessary to keep up against Evernote.
one click calendar, that connects with other online calenders like google calendar, you click your note here, add a date, and it shows up in your other calendars.
I would like to have this function as well! (glennholly)
sounds great to me , hit Mind map button and just imagine the possibilities :)
Mind Maps are great!
Mind maps could be great for Thinkery because currently all mind mapping programs are over-complicated, not to mention ugly
Seriously there isn't a single aesthetically pleasing mind mapping tool on the internet
Not mindmaps, but workflowy like outliner style
Absolutely essential to how I'd like to use thinkery. Right now, I keep "convo lists" on a google doc - which works - but this could be so much better.
I agree if not I just use google docs. I need to have areas private but give axcess to certain people
Yup - a communal version of this with: - Shared/Private folders - Mobile & Offline syncing - API/Add-ons e.g. Mind Map would see me moving our companies over to this. Right now it's great but not functional enough for a working environment. I can't even share the shopping list and potential new house gadgets with my wife!
The lack of ssharing / forwarding support was the first shortcoming I came across. Making documents public is way too open for me.
Poor note sharing is why I want to leave Evernote. I am partial to the method I've seen elsewhere of adding @username as a tag to share notes.
Without a powerful sharing support, I cannot use thinkery...but I'd really want to use it!!
Screen shot feature would be awesome to add to Thinkery. I love this site.
IT would be cool to have tags appear as you type which are previously created, and select as many of them as possible.
Yes!
Would be nice. My Work-around: Site pinned to screen.
If integrated with Google Apps, a link would be enough. Storage would be provided by the Google cloud.
Vote for Google Apps integration. It would open lots of possibilites.
1+ for gapps integration
what about office apps and outlook?
Please not google Apps integration. Google makes it impossible to get your stuff back. Just try any of their takeout 'services'. The format is unusable if you're not a web developer - meaning for most people.
what will the gmail app do?
ability to sync with google calendar, documents and task would be sweeeeeet
I would like this firefox extension as well
FFX 9 rocks !
Agree on this one.. in the middle of transferring my notes from Springpad, which is superb btw, but also a time-sucking hog when You try to organize more then 20/30 entries by tags/notebooks and so on. Do one thing, but do it well.
Agree....My search for a simplistic yet powerful todo app ended abruptly when I came across Thinkery. I soon realized I could put in not only my todos but any thought that I come across and be very confident that I am not going to lose it in the chaos.
PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for the suggestion, we're gonna look into that!
A calendar is always a bonus to help in life. that would be cool if you could add one to this site. make it customizable for background for us users to enjoy.
My firm uses Google Apps. We sync Outlook, Google mail and tasks, Mavenlink for Group[ tasks to our GTasks on Android. Syncing Thinkery to Google Tasks would work very well.
check ifttt.com
THIS NEEDS TO BE ADDED! LIKE, RIGHT NOW PLEASE
we have contacted and will continue to contact ifttt... they haven't gotten back to us yet.
Agree. Go boolean. Display all thoughts that share tag A AND tag B, that have tag C OR tag D, etc. This would also open up the possibility of GTD-like useage. E.G., I can have a set of certain-colored tags that represent context (Home, Office, Club, etc.) and then other, regular tags that I can filter within the chosen context. A simple feature with powerful results!
I thought you could already do this by searching for "#tag1 #tag2" to display everything with both tag1 and tag2?
Ditto! Would be extremely useful if users can select multiple tags.
delete me please - i see this is already available; thanks
It would be nice if there was just a button when adding something called "Read Later" and have a tab of unread things that I can easily mark read.
could you elaborate what a "group feature" is for you?
being able to share an idea set with a group of people for internal communications. this is a feature my company is looking for.
This needs to happen!!
hm, as thinkery is not a classical task manager I think this feature is not that important...
Not even 'classical task managers' generally have this feature. Out of the many I've tried (Which is a hell of a lot) as far as I can remember I've seen it once — Action Method Online. So, I don't think this is a classical feature.
Agreed with two of you. I take that Thinkery is just a place to throw all of the sudden raw thoughts. Later we can think back which one will turn out to be a fantastic idea.
Yes!
a must
for better cleaner desktop
sometimes things get deleted by mistake
more short cuts: like DEL (delete without confirmation), especially useful after importing and there are lots of bookmarks that you don't really want in your thinkery
+1. that would be pretty cool.
+1. in order to browse through the large imported bookmarks lot, i need to <edit> it, copy the link, new tab, paste and go..
and index the title!
categorize with tags and mark as public/private in the email somewhere (I realize the web interface provides these features)
note: the comment above says it was submitted by M66hln which is the temp user ID i had before I signed up; I was signed in when I added this comment however so it should have grabbed my user ID instead, no?
1+ for emailing into Thinkery similar to Evernote functionality.
This thought would be cool. to text me thoughts to this website. Please add feature.
This is due to the fact that we allow any UTF-8 characters as tags (so for example, in Korean). We could auto-lowercase the tags as a setting. Would that help?
Yeah, an auto-lowercase setting would be great :)
Already a feature.... under settings.
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE!!!
I love thinkery and it would make my life so much more convenient if there was a BlackBerry app!
Definitely I would be interested in this :)
Please tell us more specifically what needs optimization.
When I search tags and contents in Korean by a word, Sometimes thinkery couldn't recognize some of the letters at all. Oh ! It's not about language but 2 pictures of this webpage can't be extracted by thinkery even though one picture can be.
It is already possible, at the bottom of the profile page
*anti-duplicator
We have deployed the change
In my browser I usually want to open a link in the same tab; however, I prefer to keep Thinkery open most/all of the time. When I click on links in Thinkery it would be nice if they automatically opened in a new tab. This would be similar to Google Reader where you click on a link and Reader stays where it is, but the link opens in a new tab.
already an option under setting
To clearify: If you backup your Springpad - notes, you get a HTML-File. If I try to upload it to thinkery, none of the links get imported.
If integrated with Google Apps you could have all of the above. Vote for Google Apps integration. It would open lots of possibilites
Go back to OneNote. If you need its features, don't try changing another service.
would be a wonderful feature. Trying to find one all around organizing tool, has been frustrating. Thinkery has the potential to tie them all together.
Ok, Alex already did this. It took him half a minute.
wtf? a tag is a category!
a>b>c; a>d>e; a>d>f. Choose a>b & get {a>b>c}, a>d & get {a>d>e, a>d>f}
Or just a seperate "meta" tag list so e.g. {education, tutorial, FAQ} -> LEARNING, click 'LEARNING' to get all under edu, tutorial, FAQ.
@camelite that's exactly what im saying
Yes, I'd like this too -- a way to unclutter my tag list by, for example, putting tags into groups or something. Doesn't delicious do that?
Granted, doesn't look so bad on fullscreen. But still... Why so much space for a logo and a search box?
This is an option under settings
To expand, there are some suggestions for exporting but often times an exported entry is just a dumb export option. What could be better is an organizational tool that can cherry pick and curate entries before exporting. Even if it's just a desktop sync tool like Evernote - the ability to filter through two copies in order to release a "curated" copy would be powerful even if no export option exists.
---- ^^ That thought continues after the next four dashes. [ No offense to those with two word statements of suggestion, but you gotta say more than 'customize color' or 'add TXT'. Then again, I am an engineer, so maybe I'm already insane. Who knowss. ] My suggest follows. ---- as i was saying - dont get caught and killed by being just another "you can trust us because our site is cool" - open up to Linked Data, the push that "the site" is helping me be more awesome, but I'm more vulnerable for not being given ownership of that data. (What I'm getting at is, consider a dual open source/freemium(as well as maintained & hosted) track.. Some people *have to protect and have possession* of their intellectual property(their thinks. their ideas. documents. data. etc, by running this software on their own platforms (ec2, colo, home *nix server, etc), and choose at a granular level who can have access to what data. Examples where this idea worked: UNIX. :) Berkeley *nix. Linux. and at the app level -- Wordpress, ya might have heard bout. :p Thousands of other proofs: 'freecode,' 'sourceforge,' even google code! So, my request, is to develop a community branch, a pay/hosted branch, and start a big focus on security/data leak prevention. Let your community know, hey, this is serious business, and we have some sharp noodles. It's a 'thinkery,' for chrissakes. The very name challenges to think more. better. And, of course, More Better.
[ omg i didnt know it was going to strip out newlines. ^^ that was actually formatted.haf gud :p ]
very often when I save a webpaage to my thinkery,it saves to another username that it's not mine. So i have to repeated logging with my information(username and password again). Why this behavior ?
usually you don't have to re-login. does this happen between browser restarts? do you have an extension that wipes the browser cookies when starting your browser?
I've tried to login several times and reset my password but receive no email. I ended up having to create a whole new account with a different email address.
I've imported all my bookmarks from delicious and now I want to archive all of them... But it seems that I'll need to do it one by one, for all my 150 bookmarks...
Forget it, I just found this option on my settings... D'oh! =D
I see that there is an option for importing from html. Still, export will be greatly appreciated.
I am a regular user of both Diigo and thinkery. I am surprised how this idea even got negative votes. This would be an amazing idea
It's still a platform. =)
not for all users... (e.g. german layout)
-14???? well atleast developer can put this as an option? Please?
it's really near in uk layout (eheh) ;D
Naviagtion short-cuts like j/k (similar to google reader)
It could make it harder to add URLs (it might take a little more work to program). A backslash would've been a better suggestion, but it looks like the hash tag is already catching on.
Suggest a new feature
You need to be a thinkery user to suggest a feature.
Already implemented
PLEASE MAKE ONE PLEASE
pls, pls!! thinkery is amazing by the way!!
on my Htc Desire Hd i cant work on thinkery.me the page is broken because the footer is in the middle of screen. I Tried it with Firefox and Inet Explorer.
Not joking you really need to make an android app, its a pain in the butt to try and use the web on my phone, and app would be so nice and i would be able to get more out of the site!
android app is a must have. would use thinkery much more if I could do so easily from my phone.
need this
yes
plz : an android app synchronized with the chrome one !
Bump on the Android App
I was just about to suggest this myself! Please...
This is becoming more and more essential (and missing) for me every day... love Thinkery; love Android... really need them to work together!
PLEASE DEVELOP ANDROID APP
Could use one
Android app please!
++ purleese
Actually, the HTML mobile app appears to work quite well.
The mobile app does not fully work on my Tmobile vibrant. I can only see the summary of entries but not open them. A dedicated app is definitely the way to go if thinkery is not working on it already.
When can we expect the app, please?
We need this WITH offline support!
Badly need this in android... u simply rock in comparison with evernote & other info gatherring softwares.... expand to the andorid & the "i" world
A Thinkery Android App would be very welcome by this satisfied user. A tag or to do list widget of some sort would make Thinkery the best thought organizing app I have ever used.
Android App => paying subscriber!
I'd pay for android app! I started using Evernote like 2 months ago and thought it was useful but I hate it now and I just tried out Thinkery and THIS IS WAY BETTER!! I would be satisfied if the website worked well in mobile format if you guys can't get a Android app out. (I use Samsung Galaxy Nexus)
Would be happy to pay for android app! Thank you for such a nice thinkery! )
+1 mobile web app is quite nice on my tablet, but native android app with offline & sync options would be awesome.
please expedite a Android App
You're ignoring more than half of the 'platforms market'. Android is the dominant OS - and it just keeps getting better with each update! -- BTW, I would *gladly* pay for an android app.
FYI, we have a beta test running for our upcoming Android app: http://blog.thinkery.me/post/34830180418/thinkery-android-app-beta
This is definitely needed
+1
+1
not as needed as a mobile app.
would be great if this would be added to http://ifttt.com/channels
A mobile app would come by a lot faster if this existed.
1+
We recently updated the extension with an edit-after-save. What else would you like to see here?
when typing tags, after save, i would like tags to be autocomplete.. also i would like a highlight option to be improved :)
allow to add arbitrary contents (either by chrome popup or omnibox input)
i would like extension to see if i bookmarked this page already or not. So for example if I already bookmarked it with thinkery extension, then it should be a different color, it would help me not to click on it again.
What I'd like to see in the extension is this: when I select text from a page, and 'send to thinkery', I'd like the URL of the page I'm selecting from to be passed to thinkery's URL box too. It's important to me that I can credit my sources and this would automate the record-keeping there.
comment 2| +1 this will help me to always use the same tags
I really really really dislike that it auto adds the page and then asks for tags. It would very much like it if it were like many other services extensions where a popup comes up with the option to add a title, tags, or other information. Also in the popup you could just add a note. I may have to go back to pinboard if the extension doesn't change soon and I would honestly love to give you guys a little money just for this feature. It's a necessity for me.
Gee... I feel like a kid in a video shop... such great ideas and things I, myself have been wishing for. As a researcher, I would love to have an auto save of URLs, a popup for title, tags and notes would be awesome, setting or having date/time would be too cool, making sure the thinkery box for tags stays with me long enough to add something, prioritizing with some kind of visual stimuli added as well, and something to prevent me from ending sentences in prepositions is what I am looking for. ..^~^..
Hi, I like the minimalist and good design of this. I would like own notes. Thanks
I second OliverWheat´s request. Also, 2- or 3-word-tags would be great. But it´s a cool app, thankee :)
Part II: The scope of (manually) disabling the auto-tagging, auto-completing and auto-categorizing functions of thinkery (well, i fear this wasn´t grammatically correct... Sorry for this, I´m from Germany). E.g.: I mark some lines in amazon, try to add it to my brain and want to tag it with "Book-wishlist" and "Bibliographic Information" (see? 2-word-tag). As it is, for the time being I seem to have to go to my thinkery-account and delete the tags "book", the addenda to the thought just added (as amazon´s Plot-overview) and so on. Another example: I´m recherching in a database like http://sffrd.library.tamu.edu/search/author/17839/ , and again, I want to add the bibliographic information. But by marking "Afterword: Cognition as Ideology: A Dialectic of SF Theory, Miéville, China in: Bould, Mark and Mieville, China, eds. Red Planets: Marxism and Science Fiction. Middletown, CT: Wesleyan University Press, 2009. p. 213-231-248" and adding it to my brain, thinkery auto-categorizes it as link instead of text, and so I have to follow that link to get my information.
Notes always visible and at the begginig of the article.
Offline service, Turn off confirmation alerts, Show always all the tags. Folders to group different but relationed tags.
Write any notes with the extension at the same time with the tags.
+1 for "2 | oliverwheat" autocompletion during tagging.
"2 | oliverwheat" - Quinn already has this functionality. I'm trying to decide which of these 2 apps I should use, but I think the first to develop a useable Android client will get my vote!
Ability to change the default tags. YouTube videos always automatically add the tag "video", but what if I wanted something different to be added automatically?
When I click on the extension, a menu should pop up with my most recent listed thought, similar to the Google task extension: (https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/dmglolhoplikcoamfgjgammjbgchgjdd?utm_source=google-chrome-extension&utm_medium=awesomenewtabpage&utm_campaign=awesomenewtabpage)
PLEASE add an AUTOSAVE feature. I've lost data a number of times because I'm used to switching/closing screens at will with Springpad and Simplenote
Make HTML/TXT things available offline via a a batch function by saving it to a folder plus a offline html file to acess it
Pinboard charges $25 a year for this. I'm sure people would pay for it here too. Pinboard also lets you download your last 25 bookmarks for offline reading if you just have a normal account. That alone would be worth paying a little money for.
We had deployed a feature that lets you assign colors and special formatting to things.
What are the most important points for you? Focus on easy adding? On searching things? Give us your thoughts!
i think easy adding is accomplished thanks to the bookmarklet. But focus on the site and reduce data transfer.
I'd like a dedicated mobile site, like m.thinkery.me, or so. I'm currently using a Kindle Fire and I'd love to be able to use the compact mobile site instead of the desktop version.
the dialog from the bookmarklet shoul have a separate entry field for the tag
agreee
as I see, this is already done, fine :)
I would like to see an extra option (checkbox) to make the entry public
Support for capturing tables.
When I search certain keywords in lowercase, thinkery coudln't find words that is written in uppercase. (Ex/ When I searched 'this', It didn't show 'This' as results)
logical OR for search words
YES!
+1
please
expedite this please........
GHAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHGHGGHGHHHH!!!!!!!
This says you already have one: https://thinkery.me/?noredir
This says: it has been uploaded to Apple …
And: Create a special twitter account (e.g. @mythinkery), so I can add an @mythinkery to my tweets to forward my tweet into thinkery
This is a duplicate
One would have to specify if there are of type link and then automaticly make a clickable link out of it.
I see a URL on mine....
Import from all similar apps
P.S. I would pay for this
i would like to be able to just highlight stuff easily in the text... right now that doesn't seem to work, or work very well. this is something evernote et al don't offer... and yet it's kind of obvious that we'd like to save text but be able to emphasise some of it...
To be able to highlight parts and perhaps have the highlighted part saved back to your account, and having the URL of the address attached
