Ability to set date/time on #todo tags then reminders for that date/time. Browser pop ups, etc.

Email notification

2 | dirk-bongardt Thursday, January 1, 1970

what abount an automatic export of date/time-tagged items to google calendar...

3 | nakshatra Thursday, January 1, 1970

1. Ability to interact with google calendar will be a BIG PLUS! 2. Should be able to get all items for the day. 3. Ability to set priorities will be another good feature. Color codes for these are effective.

4 | n8wex Thursday, January 1, 1970

yeah set reminder in any item and email would be nice

5 | stevebmartin Thursday, January 1, 1970

This would be great. Operation similar to rememberthemilk but using this simple interface would be the mutts nuts.

6 | Thursday, January 1, 1970

Almost any/all of the above requests are good. Really need a way to remind of task due date.

7 | xpareto Thursday, January 1, 1970

smart add(text , not gui!) .Alarms.Repeat. like Remember the milk;export in Ical format, readable by un web calendar like airset,-> I can see a weekly, monthly calendar .This will be a huge plus over Evernote.

8 | Thursday, January 1, 1970

ability to set a due date the same way we can set tags (<title> #<tag(s)> #due <date>)

9 | Thursday, January 1, 1970

Ability to change the creation date for a "thing". I am using Thinkery has a logbook of my activities. If I forget to add an activity, I should be able to enter it in the future and set the date for the thing.

Post / import by email
X
1 | mikael Thursday, January 1, 1970

An important feature. Everyone uses email...

2 | kelvinquee Thursday, January 1, 1970

Email is everywhere. :) Will not pay for this as I think this is an important feature to help you folks go viral. I would pay for increased storage and other innovative features.

3 | dasrakel Thursday, January 1, 1970

Just sending links or text to a private adress, I would like this a lot. I would also use this to send things from stumbleupon to thinkery.

4 | Thursday, January 1, 1970

This is necessary to keep up against Evernote.

Calendar of bookmarks for better searching
X
1 | micah Thursday, January 1, 1970

one click calendar, that connects with other online calenders like google calendar, you click your note here, add a date, and it shows up in your other calendars.

Mind Map and Outline Views. Email (Send To) Button.
X
1 | glennholly Thursday, January 1, 1970

I would like to have this function as well! (glennholly)

2 | woodp241 Thursday, January 1, 1970

sounds great to me , hit Mind map button and just imagine the possibilities :)

3 | fsantello Thursday, January 1, 1970

Mind Maps are great!

4 | free6000 Thursday, January 1, 1970

Mind maps could be great for Thinkery because currently all mind mapping programs are over-complicated, not to mention ugly

5 | free6000 Thursday, January 1, 1970

Seriously there isn't a single aesthetically pleasing mind mapping tool on the internet

6 | almagnifico Thursday, January 1, 1970

Not mindmaps, but workflowy like outliner style

Sharing of things with other thinkery users (who should also be able to edit them)
X
1 | floaton47 Thursday, January 1, 1970

Absolutely essential to how I'd like to use thinkery. Right now, I keep "convo lists" on a google doc - which works - but this could be so much better.

2 | jasonhufford Thursday, January 1, 1970

I agree if not I just use google docs. I need to have areas private but give axcess to certain people

3 | ppedrick Thursday, January 1, 1970

Yup - a communal version of this with: - Shared/Private folders - Mobile & Offline syncing - API/Add-ons e.g. Mind Map would see me moving our companies over to this. Right now it's great but not functional enough for a working environment. I can't even share the shopping list and potential new house gadgets with my wife!

4 | rembert Thursday, January 1, 1970

The lack of ssharing / forwarding support was the first shortcoming I came across. Making documents public is way too open for me.

5 | technolepsy Thursday, January 1, 1970

Poor note sharing is why I want to leave Evernote. I am partial to the method I've seen elsewhere of adding @username as a tag to share notes.

6 | dad Thursday, January 1, 1970

Without a powerful sharing support, I cannot use thinkery...but I'd really want to use it!!

X
ability to select many tags at once (when holding Ctrl)

1 | ssi84 Thursday, January 1, 1970

IT would be cool to have tags appear as you type which are previously created, and select as many of them as possible.

An iPad app, please

1 | katalink Thursday, January 1, 1970

If integrated with Google Apps, a link would be enough. Storage would be provided by the Google cloud.

2 | katalink Thursday, January 1, 1970

Vote for Google Apps integration. It would open lots of possibilites.

3 | johnsrelay Thursday, January 1, 1970

1+ for gapps integration

4 | prodev42 Thursday, January 1, 1970

what about office apps and outlook?

5 | brunnertony Thursday, January 1, 1970

Please not google Apps integration. Google makes it impossible to get your stuff back. Just try any of their takeout 'services'. The format is unusable if you're not a web developer - meaning for most people.

Could the date be shown instead of just 1day and 8 hours ago? that's just confusing for me!!
X

X
1 | k4ren Thursday, January 1, 1970

what will the gmail app do?

2 | harayz Thursday, January 1, 1970

ability to sync with google calendar, documents and task would be sweeeeeet

Firefox extension
X
1 | gailthk Thursday, January 1, 1970

I would like this firefox extension as well

2 | perfectcarl Thursday, January 1, 1970

FFX 9 rocks !

Keep it simple. Thinkery is nice because it is simple. Too many features might get in the way of its original purpose.
X
1 | Thursday, January 1, 1970

Agree on this one.. in the middle of transferring my notes from Springpad, which is superb btw, but also a time-sucking hog when You try to organize more then 20/30 entries by tags/notebooks and so on. Do one thing, but do it well.

2 | vishal_vernekar Thursday, January 1, 1970

Agree....My search for a simplistic yet powerful todo app ended abruptly when I came across Thinkery. I soon realized I could put in not only my todos but any thought that I come across and be very confident that I am not going to lose it in the chaos.

ability to sort tags by alphabetical order
X
1 | boots Thursday, January 1, 1970

PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2 | nader Thursday, January 1, 1970

Thanks for the suggestion, we're gonna look into that!

Give us a calendar for make easier searching
X
1 | clearlizard Thursday, January 1, 1970

A calendar is always a bonus to help in life. that would be cool if you could add one to this site. make it customizable for background for us users to enjoy.

Sync #todo with Google Tasks
X
1 | evalentine Thursday, January 1, 1970

My firm uses Google Apps. We sync Outlook, Google mail and tasks, Mavenlink for Group[ tasks to our GTasks on Android. Syncing Thinkery to Google Tasks would work very well.

integrate with http://ifttt.com
X
1 | nader Thursday, January 1, 1970

we have contacted and will continue to contact ifttt... they haven't gotten back to us yet.

Allow us to select multiple tags to view. For example, we could select both "todo" and "buy" tags on the sidebar, and it would show only things with both those tags.
X
1 | edm Thursday, January 1, 1970

Agree. Go boolean. Display all thoughts that share tag A AND tag B, that have tag C OR tag D, etc. This would also open up the possibility of GTD-like useage. E.G., I can have a set of certain-colored tags that represent context (Home, Office, Club, etc.) and then other, regular tags that I can filter within the chosen context. A simple feature with powerful results!

2 | himynameisliz Thursday, January 1, 1970

I thought you could already do this by searching for "#tag1 #tag2" to display everything with both tag1 and tag2?

3 | ittybettyyy Thursday, January 1, 1970

Ditto! Would be extremely useful if users can select multiple tags.

A feature that shows similar thoughts, so that as you type, you get like brainstorm for your idea
X
Export to csv, json or somesuch. I want to play around with my links, tags etc. myself.
X
1 | camelite Thursday, January 1, 1970

delete me please - i see this is already available; thanks

Please do something for better 'read it later' fuctionality. E.g. stop asking if I really want to archive a note, or make tags easily (one click) detachable so I could use #new tag for unread items. Thanks.
X
1 | bokonon Thursday, January 1, 1970

It would be nice if there was just a button when adding something called "Read Later" and have a tab of unread things that I can easily mark read.

group feature
X
1 | alex Thursday, January 1, 1970

could you elaborate what a "group feature" is for you?

2 | vatyma Thursday, January 1, 1970

being able to share an idea set with a group of people for internal communications. this is a feature my company is looking for.

3 | floaton47 Thursday, January 1, 1970

This needs to happen!!

Import and Export features, so I can import from simplenote and export to mindmap or my online calendar, or export link/page to quickly share an item on facebook or twitter, an ability to share everything and have collaborators
X
Ability to Alphabetize Tags

X
1 | Thursday, January 1, 1970

hm, as thinkery is not a classical task manager I think this feature is not that important...

2 | jesseclaven Thursday, January 1, 1970

Not even 'classical task managers' generally have this feature. Out of the many I've tried (Which is a hell of a lot) as far as I can remember I've seen it once — Action Method Online. So, I don't think this is a classical feature.

3 | librat12 Thursday, January 1, 1970

Agreed with two of you. I take that Thinkery is just a place to throw all of the sudden raw thoughts. Later we can think back which one will turn out to be a fantastic idea.

Google Calender integration à la Coolender. Gmail / GTasks integration.

X
1 | alex Thursday, January 1, 1970

You can use the up/down keys. See http://thinkery.me/help.php

2 | aks Thursday, January 1, 1970

more short cuts: like DEL (delete without confirmation), especially useful after importing and there are lots of bookmarks that you don't really want in your thinkery

trigger a rethinking .. when a website temporary send an error 500 while add the url as bookmark and a error-message is fetched as extracted page, you can manually refetch the content. Also good for imported items, which gets no extracted content.
X
1 | huhbot002 Thursday, January 1, 1970

+1. that would be pretty cool.

2 | huhbot002 Thursday, January 1, 1970

+1. in order to browse through the large imported bookmarks lot, i need to <edit> it, copy the link, new tab, paste and go..

3 | mikejd Thursday, January 1, 1970

and index the title!

Show canonical date-time string (e.g. "2013-08-21 14:22:45") upon mouse-hovering the age (e,g, "9 d. 3 hrs ago"), or the other way around via Settings
X
Add a keyboard shortcut to bring up the help/keyboard shortcuts. Perhaps '?'
X
Actually export DATA (content) in notes, not just tag name. (What's the point of exporting, if it doesn't export 'thoughts'?)
X
Add tags to multiple items when searching. If you search for a keyword you can then add appropriate tags to all of the results in one go. This will be especially useful if you have imported bookmarks.
X
auto-complete or a list of tags commonly used by me or others who have tagged the same page. Much like delicious's old plugin that would suggest tags.
X
An application for Windows Mobile
X

X
Auto tag by site title or meta instead of 'url' default tag
X
an option to add items via email, so I can send items from Outlook to my Thinkery instance, for example.
X
ability to change the email address associated with the username; neither settings nor profile seems to have this; also, would be great to be able to email something to be added to my thinkery collection along with a way to categorize with tags (in the subject or body, whatever makes sense) and mark as public/private, etc.
X
1 | joedigital Thursday, January 1, 1970

categorize with tags and mark as public/private in the email somewhere (I realize the web interface provides these features)

2 | joedigital Thursday, January 1, 1970

note: the comment above says it was submitted by M66hln which is the temp user ID i had before I signed up; I was signed in when I added this comment however so it should have grabbed my user ID instead, no?

3 | johnsrelay Thursday, January 1, 1970

1+ for emailing into Thinkery similar to Evernote functionality.

X
SMS integration
X
1 | clearlizard Thursday, January 1, 1970

X
Export to zip containing all documents as plain text and as html. Maybe even as local storage sync for offline access / update.
X
Offline reading (or better yet, ability to add new entries) for the iOS app.
X
Allow the use of Pen input such as for the Samsung note 2 or 8 ? using their pen
X
Don't make tags cap-sensitive! "mytag" and "Mytag" shouldn't be two separate tags. Or at least make this an option in settings.
X
1 | alex Thursday, January 1, 1970

This is due to the fact that we allow any UTF-8 characters as tags (so for example, in Korean). We could auto-lowercase the tags as a setting. Would that help?

2 | himynameisliz Thursday, January 1, 1970

Yeah, an auto-lowercase setting would be great :)

public API keys we can create applications where users can give us their public API key to scrape thinkery data
X
Multi-word Tagging: Instead of read_later or ReadLater something like Evernote and Diigo (e.g. "read later").
X
Have an option that would allow users to choose a tag to be displayed by default. For example, instead of always displaying All tags when we enter the site, we could have our #todo tags be displayed.

2 | Thursday, January 1, 1970

When I search tags and contents in Korean by a word, Sometimes thinkery couldn't recognize some of the letters at all. Oh ! It's not about language but 2 pictures of this webpage can't be extracted by thinkery even though one picture can be.

X
Mutli-word tags like Evernote and Diigo (e.g instead of #history #american or #american_history be able to do "american history" as one tag. I dislike having to use Wiki-style and underscores because a lot of my tags are complex.

How about a Firefox Add-on?
X
It would be nice if there was an option to choose whether or not links open automatically in the same or different tab as Thinkery.
X
1 | brandtmj Thursday, January 1, 1970

In my browser I usually want to open a link in the same tab; however, I prefer to keep Thinkery open most/all of the time. When I click on links in Thinkery it would be nice if they automatically opened in a new tab. This would be similar to Google Reader where you click on a link and Reader stays where it is, but the link opens in a new tab.

2 | mikejd Thursday, January 1, 1970

already an option under setting

When we add a new item with one tag, display only the items with that tag, instead of displaying all items.
X
Add some sort of language for specifying how to deal with new sites, or open source current site rules on github, allowing people to fork and create ways to deal with more sites in a crowdbased way.
X
In addition to the Tag classes Favourite and All, have a a History class, that shows those tags that have been added or had items that they tag updated with certain time periods, say last hour, 1 day, 1 week.
X
Make "all Tags" stay open until I "click" it shut.
X
Import from Springpad (the backup - HTML file should work)
X
1 | donnerhall Thursday, January 1, 1970

As an academic I would love to be able to sort my clippings, thoughts, etc into a knowledge tree. Very useful for writing papers and so on.
X
Would be greate to have note writting features from OneNote were we just write anywhere in the note unlike the a linear fashion, as thinkery is more about capturing you thoughts on the go this would be a greate thing. Also making thinkery little more intelegent would be greate like basic math calculation if we write 45+123+2133= the sum is caculated automatically when a space is pressed after =.
X
1 | thiagovscoelho Thursday, January 1, 1970

Go back to OneNote. If you need its features, don't try changing another service.

Nested taggs that so that you can have mutiple tags of the same name but under different heading. This would be quite Useful.

2 | camelite Thursday, January 1, 1970

a>b>c; a>d>e; a>d>f. Choose a>b & get {a>b>c}, a>d & get {a>d>e, a>d>f}

3 | camelite Thursday, January 1, 1970

Or just a seperate "meta" tag list so e.g. {education, tutorial, FAQ} -> LEARNING, click 'LEARNING' to get all under edu, tutorial, FAQ.

4 | mocca101 Thursday, January 1, 1970

@camelite that's exactly what im saying

5 | himynameisliz Thursday, January 1, 1970

Yes, I'd like this too -- a way to unclutter my tag list by, for example, putting tags into groups or something. Doesn't delicious do that?

Add simple drawings to a tought (many toughts are better presented visually)
X
Related links to aid in discovery of similar items to the one I just tagged.
X
Interface is CLUTTERED. This won't make a difference for you, but on my netbook the logo bar takes up almost half the screen. Make a minimal bar with search and all and leave the bottom area for WORK. Look at WorkFlowy for an example.
X
1 | thiagovscoelho Thursday, January 1, 1970

Granted, doesn't look so bad on fullscreen. But still... Why so much space for a logo and a search box?

X
Export and Organize
X
1 | Foolness Thursday, January 1, 1970

To expand, there are some suggestions for exporting but often times an exported entry is just a dumb export option. What could be better is an organizational tool that can cherry pick and curate entries before exporting. Even if it's just a desktop sync tool like Evernote - the ability to filter through two copies in order to release a "curated" copy would be powerful even if no export option exists.

Would like to separate tags from the entry, either on a separate line or on the far right side of the entry
X

X
Information is awesome, and the idea this site puts forth is an abundance of awesomeness. Lead. Don't get caugh
X
1 | jcloud Thursday, January 1, 1970

---- ^^ That thought continues after the next four dashes. [ No offense to those with two word statements of suggestion, but you gotta say more than 'customize color' or 'add TXT'. Then again, I am an engineer, so maybe I'm already insane. Who knowss. ] My suggest follows. ---- as i was saying - dont get caught and killed by being just another "you can trust us because our site is cool" - open up to Linked Data, the push that "the site" is helping me be more awesome, but I'm more vulnerable for not being given ownership of that data. (What I'm getting at is, consider a dual open source/freemium(as well as maintained & hosted) track.. Some people *have to protect and have possession* of their intellectual property(their thinks. their ideas. documents. data. etc, by running this software on their own platforms (ec2, colo, home *nix server, etc), and choose at a granular level who can have access to what data. Examples where this idea worked: UNIX. :) Berkeley *nix. Linux. and at the app level -- Wordpress, ya might have heard bout. :p Thousands of other proofs: 'freecode,' 'sourceforge,' even google code! So, my request, is to develop a community branch, a pay/hosted branch, and start a big focus on security/data leak prevention. Let your community know, hey, this is serious business, and we have some sharp noodles. It's a 'thinkery,' for chrissakes. The very name challenges to think more. better. And, of course, More Better.

very often when I save a webpaage to my thinkery,it saves to another username that it's not mine. So i have to repeated logging with my information(username and password again). Why this behavior ?

2 | alex Thursday, January 1, 1970

usually you don't have to re-login. does this happen between browser restarts? do you have an extension that wipes the browser cookies when starting your browser?

3 | ahayden Thursday, January 1, 1970

I've tried to login several times and reset my password but receive no email. I ended up having to create a whole new account with a different email address.

Forget it, I just found this option on my settings... D'oh! =D

5 | musicxrules Thursday, January 1, 1970

It could make it harder to add URLs (it might take a little more work to program). A backslash would've been a better suggestion, but it looks like the hash tag is already catching on.

4 | mirandahartrampf Thursday, January 1, 1970

Not joking you really need to make an android app, its a pain in the butt to try and use the web on my phone, and app would be so nice and i would be able to get more out of the site!

5 | osteele10 Thursday, January 1, 1970

android app is a must have. would use thinkery much more if I could do so easily from my phone.

Actually, the HTML mobile app appears to work quite well.

17 | pwheatley Thursday, January 1, 1970

The mobile app does not fully work on my Tmobile vibrant. I can only see the summary of entries but not open them. A dedicated app is definitely the way to go if thinkery is not working on it already.

18 | naveen Thursday, January 1, 1970

When can we expect the app, please?

19 | myth Thursday, January 1, 1970

We need this WITH offline support!

20 | neovatsan Thursday, January 1, 1970

Badly need this in android... u simply rock in comparison with evernote & other info gatherring softwares.... expand to the andorid & the "i" world

21 | vile Thursday, January 1, 1970

A Thinkery Android App would be very welcome by this satisfied user. A tag or to do list widget of some sort would make Thinkery the best thought organizing app I have ever used.

22 | almagnifico Thursday, January 1, 1970

Android App => paying subscriber!

23 | k4ren Thursday, January 1, 1970

I'd pay for android app! I started using Evernote like 2 months ago and thought it was useful but I hate it now and I just tried out Thinkery and THIS IS WAY BETTER!! I would be satisfied if the website worked well in mobile format if you guys can't get a Android app out. (I use Samsung Galaxy Nexus)

24 | romanovarts Thursday, January 1, 1970

Would be happy to pay for android app! Thank you for such a nice thinkery! )

26 | mosheheller Thursday, January 1, 1970

27 | maxvonmillion Thursday, January 1, 1970

You're ignoring more than half of the 'platforms market'. Android is the dominant OS - and it just keeps getting better with each update! -- BTW, I would *gladly* pay for an android app.

Improve Chrome extension
All of the requested features have been implemented
X
1 | alex Thursday, January 1, 1970

We recently updated the extension with an edit-after-save. What else would you like to see here?

2 | oliverwheat Thursday, January 1, 1970

when typing tags, after save, i would like tags to be autocomplete.. also i would like a highlight option to be improved :)

3 | Thursday, January 1, 1970

allow to add arbitrary contents (either by chrome popup or omnibox input)

4 | oliverwheat Thursday, January 1, 1970

i would like extension to see if i bookmarked this page already or not. So for example if I already bookmarked it with thinkery extension, then it should be a different color, it would help me not to click on it again.

5 | sandpiper7 Thursday, January 1, 1970

What I'd like to see in the extension is this: when I select text from a page, and 'send to thinkery', I'd like the URL of the page I'm selecting from to be passed to thinkery's URL box too. It's important to me that I can credit my sources and this would automate the record-keeping there.

6 | almagnifico Thursday, January 1, 1970

comment 2| +1 this will help me to always use the same tags

7 | bokonon Thursday, January 1, 1970

I really really really dislike that it auto adds the page and then asks for tags. It would very much like it if it were like many other services extensions where a popup comes up with the option to add a title, tags, or other information. Also in the popup you could just add a note. I may have to go back to pinboard if the extension doesn't change soon and I would honestly love to give you guys a little money just for this feature. It's a necessity for me.

8 | revjoyce Thursday, January 1, 1970

Gee... I feel like a kid in a video shop... such great ideas and things I, myself have been wishing for. As a researcher, I would love to have an auto save of URLs, a popup for title, tags and notes would be awesome, setting or having date/time would be too cool, making sure the thinkery box for tags stays with me long enough to add something, prioritizing with some kind of visual stimuli added as well, and something to prevent me from ending sentences in prepositions is what I am looking for. ..^~^..

9 | diegoalvarez Thursday, January 1, 1970

Hi, I like the minimalist and good design of this. I would like own notes. Thanks

10 | dawalda Thursday, January 1, 1970

I second OliverWheat´s request. Also, 2- or 3-word-tags would be great. But it´s a cool app, thankee :)

11 | dawalda Thursday, January 1, 1970

Part II: The scope of (manually) disabling the auto-tagging, auto-completing and auto-categorizing functions of thinkery (well, i fear this wasn´t grammatically correct... Sorry for this, I´m from Germany). E.g.: I mark some lines in amazon, try to add it to my brain and want to tag it with "Book-wishlist" and "Bibliographic Information" (see? 2-word-tag). As it is, for the time being I seem to have to go to my thinkery-account and delete the tags "book", the addenda to the thought just added (as amazon´s Plot-overview) and so on. Another example: I´m recherching in a database like http://sffrd.library.tamu.edu/search/author/17839/ , and again, I want to add the bibliographic information. But by marking "Afterword: Cognition as Ideology: A Dialectic of SF Theory, Miéville, China in: Bould, Mark and Mieville, China, eds. Red Planets: Marxism and Science Fiction. Middletown, CT: Wesleyan University Press, 2009. p. 213-231-248" and adding it to my brain, thinkery auto-categorizes it as link instead of text, and so I have to follow that link to get my information.

12 | diegoalvarez Thursday, January 1, 1970

Notes always visible and at the begginig of the article.

13 | diegoalvarez Thursday, January 1, 1970

Offline service, Turn off confirmation alerts, Show always all the tags. Folders to group different but relationed tags.

14 | diegoalvarez Thursday, January 1, 1970

Write any notes with the extension at the same time with the tags.

15 | Thursday, January 1, 1970

+1 for "2 | oliverwheat" autocompletion during tagging.

16 | davidowain Thursday, January 1, 1970

"2 | oliverwheat" - Quinn already has this functionality. I'm trying to decide which of these 2 apps I should use, but I think the first to develop a useable Android client will get my vote!

17 | matthew5384 Thursday, January 1, 1970

Ability to change the default tags. YouTube videos always automatically add the tag "video", but what if I wanted something different to be added automatically?

18 | free6000 Thursday, January 1, 1970

When I click on the extension, a menu should pop up with my most recent listed thought, similar to the Google task extension: (https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/dmglolhoplikcoamfgjgammjbgchgjdd?utm_source=google-chrome-extension&utm_medium=awesomenewtabpage&utm_campaign=awesomenewtabpage)

Offline Reading
X
1 | almagnifico Thursday, January 1, 1970

Make HTML/TXT things available offline via a a batch function by saving it to a folder plus a offline html file to acess it

2 | bokonon Thursday, January 1, 1970

Pinboard charges $25 a year for this. I'm sure people would pay for it here too. Pinboard also lets you download your last 25 bookmarks for offline reading if you just have a normal account. That alone would be worth paying a little money for.

Make things more important or prioritise. Allow choice to make entry green, yellow or red signifying importance.
